Work permit to foreigners is digitalized
On January 1, 2022 this platform was launched, which is addressed to digitalize the whole process of granting work permit and residence status to foreigners in Armenia. The process starts with an online registration of the employer. Any person authorized by the head of the executive body of the employing company can act on the system on behalf of that legal person (employer) registered on the system. The employer presents a request for getting residence status on work base for the foreigner via this system. The description of the vacancy should be filled in. To hire a foreigner candidate for the presented vacancy the confirmation is needed from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. After this confirmation the foreigner’s data should be filled in. Next, the foreigner gets e-mail notification on getting residence status on work bases. For taking his plastic card, the foreigner should visit the Joint office of public services in Vazgen Sargsyan 3 address on working days from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM or from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM․ To remind that on December 16, 2021 RA Government adopted the procedure of running the electronic system for foreigner employee, the state agencies having access to this system, the technical description of the platform, the procedure of filling in and presenting the applications, procedure of residence status provision on the work basis, prolonging acting dates, the form certifying legality of residence for the foreigners exempted from the requirement to obtain a work permit according to the relevant international legal acts, the required documents for getting it, provision procedure and dates. On May 27, 2021 the Armenian National Assembly fully adopted the paclage of Laws on Foreigners and State Tax, Administrative violations and amendments to the RA Labor Code, at the second reading.
How to use the platform?
If you are an employer and want to involve a foreign employee to your staff, you should request a termporary residence status on work basis for your foreign candidate via this platform from the Government of RA. EAEU citizens are exempt from work permits
Citizens of the EAEU member states who work in the Republic of Armenia, as well as their family members, are exempted from the requirement to obtain any permission type document for the whole period of their employment contract in accordance to the Treaty on the EAEU. At the same time, in order to verify the legality of the residence, the persons of this category can register on the Platform and receive a relevant certificate. The registration of a citizen of an EAEU member state on the Platform should be done online in the following sequence of steps: Step 1. Visit www.workpermit.am website. Step 2. Click on the “Registration” button on the upper right side. Step 3. Click on the “EAEU citizen” tab in the opened window. Step 4. Fill in the required fields of the opened form. ATTENTION! It is impossible to print and provide a certificate verifying the legality of residence without a public service number. EAEU citizens who have an active account on the platform can regsiter their family members (parents, wife, husband, children) who came to Armenia with them on their platform account by submitting an application for family members to obtain a certificate validating legal residence In the Republic of Armenia. Attention! The certificate provided to the family memebers of EAEU citizens member states is issued for the term of the emplyement contract of the citizen of the EAEU member state registered in the RA, if the contract is concluded for an indefinite period, the certificate is issued for a period of one year.
